A common goal of PCUF schools is to dispel the myth that a private college education is unaffordable. There are many scholarship and grant opportunities unique to each PCUF institution that can reduce a student’s costs to be competitive with state institutions. Scholarship opportunities may be available for domestic and international students.

What kind of aid is available for Florida residents?

The state provides a dollar amount for each Bright Futures level to be applied to private institutions.

In 2018-2019, the state will provide $211 per academic credit hour (approx. $6,752 per academic year) for Academic Scholars to use towards private college tuition. Also included for Academic Scholars is a $300 voucher for books per semester. The state will provide $160 per academic credit hour (approx. $5,120 per academic year) for Medallion Scholars to use towards private college tuition.

All full-time undergraduate students who meet the Florida Residency requirements receive the Effective Access to Student Education Grant (EASE) that can be applied to their college costs. The award for EASE for school year 2018-19 is $3,500.

 

All full-time undergraduate students who meet the Florida residency requirements, complete the FAFSA, and demonstrate financial need with an EFC less than $6,080, are eligible to receive the need-based Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG). For the 2018-19 academic year, the minimum annual award amount for FSAG is $200 and the maximum is $2,610.

 

Pre-paid Savings
Families can use their pre-paid college fund savings towards tuition at a private school. The fund should contribute approximately $3,000-$4,500 per year based on the plan chosen.
